Silence happens not only when the words stop but when the mind and the heart are still enough to listen deeply to the word beyond words - to the quiet language of the soul. In silence you can "lose yourself in being" (Noel Davis) and be surprised by the clarity that arises from within. Some have experienced this in extended retreat times, others are unsure as to whether they can manage long periods of silence. The silent days offered at The Grove this year are an opportunity to experience in some small measure the possibilities that surface in the quiet depths of the soul when one intentionally enters into silence. The requirement for each day is that you are prepared to be utterly quiet, in order to open yourself to the deeper place inside. There will be a brief preliminary session to suggest how you might utilize the time, a handout sheet to help focus your reflection and an opportunity to speak with a spiritual director if you wish.
Two Spiritual Directors will be present each day. Below is a list of Spiritual Directors who will be available at different times throughout the year:
Carole Carmody, Nettie Doolan, Noella Sullivan, Madeline Duckett, Kaye Evans, Jen Hall, Bronwyn Klease, Maria McCormack, Anne Ryan, Catherine Smith and Moya Weissenfeld
